Something New – Artist/Composer: Barak Moffitt

I met Barak Moffitt several years ago in an I.T. context.  It seems that Barak is a fellow with multiple talents and drives and that he has had reasonable success in multiple arenas.   Our schedules finally aligned such that I met with Barak at his studio during a trip to Los Angeles  in 2007 – his web site provides a fair amount of information about his recording studio – worth some surf time.

The really interesting part of the visit was getting to hear a number of tracks from this young (relatively speaking, from a guy working on his second half-century) composer.  Of course rock was part of the mix but then examples of his work wandered into a number of other musical contexts including pieces that absolutely surprised me due to their classical structure and complexity (the music of Brahms came to mind.)   During this visit I learned that one of Barak’s tunes wound up in a recent movie (Live Free or Die Hard, with Bruce Willis.)   You can locate more information about Barak at web site for the band Infiinite Monopoly.
